Google has recently released its geographic search tool Google Earth, a new application with satellite images and maps from around the globe. With this application it is possible to sit back, relax and enjoy the bicycle adventures we have undertaken.

This page gives
an overview of all the virtual trips of our cycling adventure currently available.
Choosen is to make the virtual rides by year and country.

Thailand 2006 ride

The
Thailand_ride_2006.kmz takes you into the thia heartlands. This 4 day ride begins in Ban Pak Huai near the Laotian border, brings you to Nakorn Thai and Khao Kho to end in Phetchaboon.

Best viewed with the following settings in GE:

* At View, Rendering set Elevation Exaggeration to 2
* At Control, check the advanced box.
Then in the "Driving directions tour options" box set

Camera tilt angle to 60 degrees

- Camera range to 5000 meters (the maximum)
- Speed to 1000 (the maximum)
Northern Vietnam ride 2005

This Northern Vietnam ride takes you in two stages from Hanoi along the Red River and the Laotian border to Na Meo. The first stage Northern Vietnam_ride1_2005.kmz takes you from Hanoi along the Red River to the mountains near SAPA. This second ride Northern Vietnam_ride2_2005.kmz takes you from Dien Bien Phu along the Laotian border to Na Meo (a six day ride). This ride is the second part of our Hanoi - Phetchaboon adventure in 2005.

Thailand 2005 ride

The
Thailand_ride_2005.kmz takes you along the Mekong and the Laotian border. This 4 day ride begins in Nong Khai and end in Phetchaboon. This ride is the last stretch of our Hanoi - Phetchaboon adventure in 2005.

Soutern Laos 2003 ride

Although we cycled all the way from Vientiane down the
SouternLaos_ride_2003.kmz starts in Pakse, goes up to the Bolavenplateau and then downhill towards Attapeu. From Attapeu it goes over "lost highway"No. 18 and ends at Wat Phou near Champask. This virtual ride takes you along the most adventures part of our Vientiane-Sihanoukville-Buriram bicycle ride in 2002/2003.

Also this virtual tour is best viewed with the GE settings as given for the Thailand 2006 ride.

Soutern Laos - Northern Cambodia 2003 ride

This trip starts at Wat Phou near Champask
(where the Soutern Laos ride ends). From Champasak the LaosCambodia_ride_2003.kmz follows the Mekong river into Cambodia all the way to Kampong Cham. From there the rides takes you westbound towards Angkor Wat and ends at the Cambodian - Thai border at Poipet/Aranyaprathet. This virtual ride is also part of our Vientiane-Sihanoukville-Buriram bicycle ride in 2002/2003.

Thailand - Southern Cambodia 2003 ride part 1 & 2

This virtual ride starts in Buriram in North East Thailand and goes to Aranyaprathet where the border to Cambodia is crossed
. From the border at Poipet the ThailandCambodia_ride_2003_part1.kmz takes you to Battambang and from there by boat to Siem Reap were the first stage ends.
The second stage starts in Phnom Penh and heads South to the Cambodian coast all the way to Sihanoukville. Then the ThailandCambodia_ride_2003_part2.kmz goes up agian and westward towards Kho Khong. Entering Thailand at Hat Lek. From there it heads North parallel with the Thai-Cambodian border all the way to Sa Kaeo.

China 2001 ride

The
China_ride_2001.kmz takes you from Kunming Southbound and ends on the banks of the Red river. A beautiful ride with lots of different landscape. This is the first part of our Kunming - Lampang adventure in 2001.

China 2001 ride

The
China_ride_2001_part2.kmz takes you from Yuanjiang on the banks of the Red river to the Chinese - Laotian border. A ride through many mountain areas. This is the second part of our Kunming - Lampang adventure in 2001.

Best viewed with The same settings as the first part of the China 2001 ride.

Laos 2001 ride

The
Laos_ride_2001.kmz takes you from the Chinese border to the Thai border. A three day ride through lush jungle over a unsealed roads. This is the thirth strech of our Kunming - Lampang adventure in 2001.

Thailand 2001 ride

The
Thailand_ride_2001.kmz takes you from the Lao/Thai border, along the Mekong river to Lampang.
A five day ride through the Nothern wonders of Thailand. This is the final part of our Kunming - Lampang adventure in 2001.
